After my birthday party!


Beginning of my birthday party!

One is a VERY Big Number!!!!

Thankfully, the weather cooperated for us for Emerson's first birthday party. Though a bit chilly, the sun came out in the afternoon and we were able to have the party outside, thankfully, because it seems our family is growing with so many big kids, medium sized kids, and little kids running around!

Emerson did famously for her party, did not cry when we sang to her, but still didn't quite know what was going on during our chorus of Happy Birthday. And she really wasn't impressed with the cake that much either...which was no big surprise.

All was well until just when everyone was leaving, she got sick right in the middle of our garage!!! Stomach flu had invaded our household! At least she got to play with some of her toys before the sickness came on...poor little girl. Daddy had to change his clothes three times that evening! And Mommy spent her first Mother's Day, experiencing what motherhood is really all about... lounging with her sick baby. A special thanks to my mom who stepped in and helped me bathe my crusty child and clean baby puke out of my living room carpet...I'm so thankful for grandma. PS. We all came away from this ok, except daddy also did come down with stomach flu.

At my one year appointment, I am 31" tall, in the 97% percentile, I'm 19.15 pounds, in the 45% percentile, and my head circumfrence is 18", in the 75% percentile. Although I'm tiny, the doctor says I'm doing well because I have maintained those numbers in my growth charts...I'm going to be tall and skinny?!?! Huh? Cuz mommy and daddy are sure not either one of those things.
